Intel Core i9-11900K and Core i5-11600K Review: Rocket Lake Blasts Off

The Core i5-11600K offers a very competitive price-to-performance ratio across many games and applications and is a solid buy when available near its intended price, although AMD remains stronger in some areas and Rocket Lake has power and platform trade-offs.

Intel Core i5-11600K vs. AMD Ryzen 5 5600 vs. Core i5-10600K

The 11600K is typically 10–20% faster than the 10600K in productivity and matches the Ryzen 5 5600X in most such workloads, but the Ryzen 5 5600X is about 7% faster in the tested 1080p gaming suite; at higher resolutions that gap generally shrinks or disappears, making the Intel chip a reasonable value if not heavily overpriced.

Trusted Reviews Awards 2021: The Intel Core i5-11600K wins Best CPU

Trusted Reviews says the 11600K delivered excellent gaming performance, solid thermals, and PCIe 4.0 support, but was a one-trick pony because its poor multithreaded performance made it inferior to Ryzen for creative applications; it won the publication's 2021 Best CPU award.

This extensive Linux review benchmarks the 11600K across graphics, gaming, and more than 300 CPU/system tests, concluding in its overview that Rocket Lake's IPC improvement still has difficulty competing with AMD Ryzen 5000 in many workloads.
